Android application for your mobile security

Posted by Bloglovers on December 31, 2011

Now that Google’s Android mobile OS has been released to the public for some time and now thoughts of security are floating around in our minds. I am sure that many people just want a simple app to take care of security for them. Well, the good news is that since Android is based off of Linux inherently it is less susceptible to malware. The the flip side, Android users should think about their own private security since even Android developers say that their product is not completely secure due to the fact that apps must intercommunicate. Ultimately you will need to decide how much security you want on your phone. Androlib.com offers several free security apps to help you browse the internet, text your friends, and talk as securely as possible.

Secure SMS

This app will allow you to encrypt and decrypt your texts. This can be great for users who communicate potentially sensitive information via texting.

WaveSecure Mobile Security

WaveSecure is an app that takes action when your phone is lost or stolen. Via a secure website you can destroy or recover data, track changes to your SIM card, lock the phone, or back-up your personal data remotely.

Anti-virus Free

This little AV is all about protecting your phone from malware and exploits with real-time scanning. Additionally you can have it filter SMS so that you never have to read or pay for an annoying SPAM message again.

ConnectBot

This little piece of software allows the smartphone to connect to a secure shell server which typically run on UNIX-based servers. Several shells can be open at once and controlled by the user. This Android app is typically used by power users and not general users as you do need to know shell commands in order to truly use the app.

Although ConnectBot 1.6.1 is out I thought you might be interested to watch the basic features.

Keeper(TM) Password & Data Vault
Keeper is certified by the U.S. government to keep your passwords, notes, logins, and other sensitive information safe from prying eyes. This little Droid app has AES encryption that will make breaking into it tougher than sneaking back into your parents house after a night of partying.

LokPixLite
Do you ever take sensitive pictures that you do not want just anybody to see? If you do then LokPixLite is perfect for you. Encrypt as many as 25 pictures, import, export, capture, and view pictures without a worry that someone else will see your work. Get this above application for your mobile and make sure you keep away from hackers and malicious attacks.

Why adding social media to your blog

Posted by Bloglovers on December 31, 2011

Have you added social media to your blog? We’ve recently added some new links to our How To section describing how you can integrate social media with your website. Those are facebook, twitter, digg, stumbleupon and delicious.

In the simplest cases, you might just want to use a text link or button to link across to your Facebook or Twitter page. But you might also want to make it easier for readers to Like your post within Facebook, or to Digg your post, add it to StumbleUpon.com or Delicious.com.

There are a gazillion other social media sites, so you might want to use Share This to open up a lot more options. And if you like Twitter, perhaps you’d like options to automatically tweet new blog posts, and display links to all your tweets from your website. All of these options are described in the How To articles above.

But it all comes down to time. Ultimately small businesses have to decide where to allocate time. With unlimited time, we could easily keep posting to our blogs, Facebook and Twitter accounts as well as all the other social media sites relevant to us …

In practice however, I often suggest to clients that their first priority should be to use their blog (which will give you better results from Google). Each new blog post can help build authority for your website and attract new search engine visitors. And better still, attract new links to your website.

When your blog is working for you – keep it going, it just gets better over time.

So what about Facebook and Twitter? All of the small businesses I’ve worked with are getting a lot more benefit from Google than Facebook or Twitter. So if you had to choose, I’d go with Google first, which means using your blog.

Getting business value out of Facebook and Twitter involves different skills. You need to think carefully about what you are using these tools for, who you are aiming to reach, and what information needs to be shared to achieve this. Even if you do it all well, you may still find that when you look at Google Analytics for what actually happens, the volume of leads/sales coming from Facebook and/or Twitter pales into insignificance alongside Google.

But there are some businesses that have learnt how to use Facebook and Twitter really well – if you want to emulate them, do your research and implement in to your blog.

Get backlinks for your site

Posted by Bloglovers on December 31, 2011

There’s a complete section dedicated to the essentials of Seo which you really should understand before diving straight into link creating. Seo training can be a great place to start with your career, so let’s crack on.

Choosing forums to get great inbound links

In contrast to what the popular media would probably want you to you believe, many people have been having conversations over the internet prior to the introduction of Facebook.

Possibly one of the most common methods of conversation and one which is certainly blooming today is the ‘forum’. Forums are effective discussion boards where people could start off a ‘thread’ and other individuals add to it, or perhaps merely begin a massive debate regarding the topic at hand. Because of the considerable variety of subjects in the world as well as the huge quantity of individuals with access to the World wide web, generally there can be an almost unlimited number of boards that you can end up being a part of, a few becoming more popular than others.

Forums could be exceptionally positive to your SEO strategy due to the fact that they may perform not one but two roles in our mission. To begin with, they can often be an amazing location to get hyperlinks (and inbound links support your SEO ranking) subsequently, through friendly interaction one might probably acquire fresh leads as well as brand-new clients.

Yet including back links to the forum communications can be generally a huge ‘no’ within many boards, consequently much not unlike social networking, you need to often be a little tad cunning with regards to it.

One segment of the site that a lot of boards get in common is the ‘signature’. This is a part of code that is added to each and every post you are making and oftentimes it is easy to add backlinks to it. A word of caution though – a number of forums scowl about adding signatures in the beginning and it’s worth getting involved in the community forum first and getting a little bit of a name for yourself ahead of including any. In fact, several boards enforce a guideline whereby you must have posted a specific amount of remarks before they’ll permit you to put any kind of signature to your articles.

The thing you need to bear in mind can be that if you end up getting involved in any kind of forum, you are essentially a invitee on their system and of course , if you do anything which goes in opposition to their rules or even integrity, they’re quite inside of their own rights to remove anyone from the server. There is certainly also something more important to look out for- the ‘no-follow’ tag.

The Internet world of boards is certainly divided pretty much equally between folks that adore website visitors and their hyperlinks, and also those who don’t. It’s a chicken and egg thing simply because individuals who would positively support you to place back links on their web sites will end up receiving numerous visitors therefore an abundance of one-way links themselves – increasing recognition, yet some people would likely also get an awful lot of junk.

( Furthermore, you can find a lot of this on SEO training classes such as the one run by many internet providers)

Nevertheless those who can’t stand everyone leaving backlinks, or maybe just make it really challenging to do so will lose out on loads of traffic. At the end of the day, it really is dependent upon the subject of the site and whether it’s monetised in any way. Some of those that don’t like you leaving links will sometimes give each link an attribute that was introduced only a few years ago, the ‘nofollow’.

By attaching the nofollow feature to a link, it notifies the bots that it should never be followed and should never acquire’link juice’.

Now, many SEO experts disagree as to whether this actually means a link using ‘nofollow’ is completely pointless and some will show evidence that shows that it does actually make a difference and shouldn’t be discounted completely, however most will agree that if you’re going to look for links, make more of an effort on those that don’t use this attribute.

So now we just need to find out how to discover whether it’s nofollow or not and luckily it’s easy, you see the source of the page that you’re viewing will give the game away. If you’re using either Internet Explorer or Firefox this is easy, simply click on the ‘menu’ item and choose ‘view source’. You’ll be presented with what may look like a bunch of scary code but all you need to do is hit ‘ctrl-F’ to bring up the ‘find’ command and do a search for one of the links on the page. Then, simply look for ‘rel=nofollow’. If you find it and you’re just looking for links then you can move on, but if you want to stick around because you’re interested in the subject – check it out a bit deeper.

You see, it’s really not worth being too picky about these kind of web pages because those who don’t allow links in all probability have a better benefit. They are less likely to be full of spam and therefore worth much more in general social networking. best of luck for your effort.

Failure of making money online

Posted by Bloglovers on December 31, 2011

Everybody is keen to make money online these days. With the current financial crises and a really bad job market, it’s no wonder more people are turning to internet to find a way to earn extra money. Unfortunately, most people who attempt to make money online will fail.

There are so many ways to make extra money that nearly anyone can find a method that suits their skills and capability. The reason for people failing in their efforts of making money online is not that they couldn’t find an appropriate way or that they couldn’t manage time for their new venture. No, the most common reason for many of us failing to make online money is because we FAIL to ACT. We keep searching continuously for different methods of making money, we find some that we consider to be good methods, we keep reading and learning about them for days, weeks and months, yet we fail to put any of those learned lessons into use.

I myself was a victim of that. Some years ago I got interested in making online money. So, like anybody else in that kind of a situation, I too started looking for helpful information and means of making money online. I joined a couple of online money making forums. I also subscribed to a couple of blogs that I thought were offering really good information about making money online and they proved to do so.

I did read a lot of good content and found some great ways to make online money. Some of them even provided simple step-by-step guides. Yet, I failed to make any money, because I didn’t put any of those methods to practice.

I kept looking for better ways in anticipation of finding a better and quicker way of making online money. Perhaps I was looking for the “magic button” so I could push it and make money online. Of course, I never found one! I learned a lot of things on the subject of making money online, different ways and strategies, different tools and so on. But, non of that information was going to help me make money if I wasn’t going to take any action.

All I’m trying to tell you is to stop searching for an easier quicker way of making money. Pick one method and give it your best. It won’t help working on it for a while, only to give it up and look for another simpler way.

There is no doubt that there are many different ways of making online money. While some of them are quick, others are not. By simply knowing these methods you are not going to make any money. You must act if you like to make money. There is no point in continuing your search if you aren’t going to use your new found information.

Don’t waste time reading blogs and forums in search of quick ways to make money that will make you rich overnight. Please understand this, there is no such method! The only thing that can help you make money is your action.

It’s almost certain that any money making system will take time and effort before you start getting results. You just have to remain committed. Thankfully, most of the methods of earning money don’t cost you anything except your time, which you would otherwise be wasting looking for that magical way of making quick money any way.

In short, JUST DO IT. If you are really interested in making money online, you must act. Look for a simple way of making online money and give it your best. If it works, you earn money and you can take it a step further and earn more money. If it fails, look for another method. Rest assured that you’ll surely find a way that works well for you and your unique situation.

Five Requirements of trading

Posted by Bloglovers on December 31, 2011

Taking large, concentrated positions is extremely risky. Granted, if you take the right side of a trade, large positions generate incredible gains. However, guess wrong and your capital is eliminated. No one can always be on the right side of the market, so the goal should be to protect capital and have the ability to invest in the future.

To mange this risk, most investors diversify their portfolios. Although diversification makes sense, it also causes confusion. The main problem with determining an asset allocation strategy is that during times of crisis, correlations merge and what was thought of as a well-diversified portfolio shows its true risk. Any investor who bought different mutual funds for diversification and discovered that all the managers held similar stocks can relate to this experience.

Harry Markowitz earned the Nobel Prize for his work that led to the Modern Portfolio Theory (MPT). As the background for diversification, MPT offers a model to build a portfolio. However, before doing some math and settling on a strategy, you should familiarize yourself with the five main rules of MPT. They are:

  1. Number of securities – When you expand the number of securities in your portfolio, risk drops and expected return increases. However, there are limits to this strategy. Academic studies show that once you reach thirty different items, further risk reduction is eliminated.
  2. Covariance rules – Most investors look at individual securities to determine risk. Within a portfolio the important factor is not the riskiness of individual names, but how these stocks react to one another. If you have two stocks that are extremely risky, but move in opposite directions on a daily basis, a portfolio with fifty percent of your money in each would be very safe. Look past individual risk and focus on total portfolio risk.
  3. Efficient Frontier – The efficient frontier is the combination of assets that offers the highest expected return for a given risk level. All portfolios must reside on this point. Select a risk profile and then see what portfolio will do best. Any other choice is suboptimal and should be avoided.
  4. Volatility – MPT is based on a risk/reward tradeoff. Using volatility as a proxy for risk, the formula is sensitive to this input. A volatility assumption that dramatically differs from what actually occurs leads to unexpected outcomes.
  5. Looking forward – MPT is sensitive to your data inputs. Investors who properly gauge future volatility and the resulting covariance between securities will have an optimal portfolio. While we must look to the past for guidance, the important factor is what occurs in the future.

MPT offers an excellent method for building, monitoring, and managing portfolios. Understand the five main rules of MPT and you will see risk reduced and gains increased, and avoid unexpected negative surprises.

Know Google Panda Update

Posted by Bloglovers on December 27, 2011

Perhaps the biggest story line in Internet search this year has been the ongoing saga of the Google Panda Update. Let’s recap, and look ahead to next year.

Has Panda been the most significant thing to happen in search this year to you? If not, what was? Let us know in the comments.

At the beginning of the year, there was a lot of attention being payed to the quality of Google’s search results, as the content farm movement was reaching a high search result saturation point. There was also a lot of criticism. Eventually, Google finally took action. It launched in February (globally in April), and initially earned the nickname “Farmer” update. I believe this was coined by Danny Sullivan. Then Google came out and let the world know what its real name was: Panda, named after a Google engineer that goes by Panda.

“He was one of the key guys,” explained Google’s Amit Singhal in an interview with Wired in early March. “He basically came up with the breakthrough a few months back that made it possible.”

So, whether you think Panda has been a great thing for search, or it has ruined your life and/or business, I guess you have this guy to thank. Though, I’m sure if he didn’t come up with it, someone else at Google would have come up with something similar. The criticism was getting pretty strong, and Google can’t afford to lose users due to poor search quality. Though Google does many, many other things and offers many products that people use on a daily basis, search and advertising are still Google’s bread and butter, and Google’s quality has still kept it high above competitors in search market share.

We’ve probably posted close to a hundred Panda-related article at WebProNews this year, if you count the ones leading up to it, about content farms and their effects on search, and the ones about the update before it actually came to be known as Panda. I could probably turn them into a book if I wanted, so I’m not going to rehash it all here, but let’s go through some highlights.

Google “Panda” Algorithm Update – What’s Known & What’s Possible was an early look at some things that were evident, and what people were speculating about what might be hurting them with the Panda update. There were a lot of good comments on this one too, for further discussion.

Suite101, was one of the sites hit hard by Panda. In that Wired interview, Matt Cutts actually mentioned them by name, saying, “I feel pretty confident about the algorithm on Suite 101.”

Suite101 CEO Peter Berger responded with an open letter to Cutts. You can read it in its entirety here, but it concluded with:

Another level of depth may be added to this discussion if the word “quality” were more fully defined. “Quality” without much more precisely defining it, especially when the quality mentioned does only seem to be a quality signal relating to a given search query, leaves a lot still misunderstood…

HubPages, which eventually had some recovery success attributed to the use of sub-domains, noted a lack of consistency on how Google viewed quality. According to CEO Paul Edmondson, some of the site’s best content had dropped in rankings, while others went up.

Dani Horowitz of DaniWeb, which recovered, dropped, and recovered again, shared some interesting stories with us about how some of her most relevant stuff stopped ranking where it should have, while other less relevant pieces of content (to their respective queries) were ranking higher.

Google, however, has always acknowledged that “no algorithm is perfect.”

Panda hit a lot more than content farms, and sites that in that vein. E-commerce sites were hit. Coupon sites were hit. Affiliate sites were hit. Video, news, blogs and porn sites did well (at least initially).

Oh yeah, Google’s own properties didn’t too bad either, though some of its competitors did well also.

There was a lot of surprise when Demand Media’s eHow wasn’t hit by the Panda update, as this was essentially known as the posterchild for content farms, but that didn’t last. In a future interation, eHow eventually got hit, which led to the company deleting 300,000 eHow articles and launching a content clean-up initiatve. Yahoo just did something similar with its Associated Content this month.

Eventually Google simply put out a list of questions that all sites should consider when thinking about creating “quality” content. The moral of the story is that, no matter what kind of site you have, if you heavily consider these things, you should have a better chance of beating the Panda update, because you’ll be creating good, trustworthy content. Those questions were:

  • Would you trust the information presented in this article?
  • Is this article written by an expert or enthusiast who knows the topic well, or is it more shallow in nature?
  • Does the site have duplicate, overlapping, or redundant articles on the same or similar topics with slightly different keyword variations?
  • Would you be comfortable giving your credit card information to this site?
  • Does this article have spelling, stylistic, or factual errors?
  • Are the topics driven by genuine interests of readers of the site, or does the site generate content by attempting to guess what might rank well in search engines?
  • Does the article provide original content or information, original reporting, original research, or original analysis?
  • Does the page provide substantial value when compared to other pages in search results?
  • How much quality control is done on content?
  • Does the article describe both sides of a story?
  • Is the site a recognized authority on its topic?
  • Is the content mass-produced by or outsourced to a large number of creators, or spread across a large network of sites, so that individual pages or sites don’t get as much attention or care?
  • Was the article edited well, or does it appear sloppy or hastily produced?
  • For a health related query, would you trust information from this site?
  • Would you recognize this site as an authoritative source when mentioned by name?
  • Does this article provide a complete or comprehensive description of the topic?
  • Does this article contain insightful analysis or interesting information that is beyond obvious?
  • Is this the sort of page you’d want to bookmark, share with a friend, or recommend?
  • Does this article have an excessive amount of ads that distract from or interfere with the main content?
  • Would you expect to see this article in a printed magazine, encyclopedia or book?
  • Are the articles short, unsubstantial, or otherwise lacking in helpful specifics?
  • Are the pages produced with great care and attention to detail vs. less attention to detail?
  • Would users complain when they see pages from this site?

So here we are, almost through with 2011, and we’ve seen numerous iterations of the Panda update. We’ll continue to see more next year most likely. Google has said flat out, that it is done with them for the rest of 2011 though.

In 2012, we can look forward to not only more Panda updates, but more focus on “above the fold” content from the sound of it, and who knows what else Google will have up its sleeve. The most important things to remember are that Google makes algorithm changes every day (over 500 a year), and there are over 200 signals the algorithm uses to determine rankings. Any of these signals or tweaks can help or hurt you. Stay on top of what Google is doing, and keep a focus on quality, and you should be fine. Remember, if you want Google’s RESPECT, you better RESPECT Google.

Panda has affected a lot of websites. It’s cost people jobs, forced companies to rethink their content strategies, and even inspired people to offer rewards for help recovering.

Some of the Best Nutritional Food for your Good Health

Posted by Bloglovers on December 26, 2011

Although there are many things you should know while taking care of your health, here I am going to give you a short tips since there is large numbers of aspects available while talking about health. Let’s get to the point and start what are the best foods which can give you top nutrition.

Eliminate all processed foods, fast foods, chips, junk food, candy bars, white flour, most pasta, processed white rice, deep-fried foods and all soft drinks.

Stick to lean cuts of meat, cut all the fat off the meat, and remove the skin from poultry prior to cooking and double the amount of vegetables you eat. For starch, eat whole grain brown rice or other higher protein grains like quinoia and bulgur. Have lentils and beans like kidney, black turtle, chick peas and Romano. If you eat bread, limit your intake and choose whole grain and/or stone-cut whole grain dark breads. The German-style breads are an example of a healthier choice and more cities have local bakeries that produce whole grain, organic breads. The culprit, when it comes to breads, is over-processed white flour. White flour has had the entire healthy core removed, including all its nutrients and grain. The flour is also so finely processed that it digests in the gut and converts to sugar in the blood stream more quickly than sugar, resulting in an insulin spike and fat gain! Throw away the butter and margarine. Use extra virgin olive oil for cooking.

Meats

Choose lean, white meats like chicken breast, turkey breast, flank steak (or other lean cuts), pork tenderloin, tuna (canned in water), salmon (canned), fresh white fish, lean sandwich meat (minimally processed turkey or chicken).

Milk & Eggs

Choose free range or organic eggs, organic plain yogurt, 1-2% cottage cheese, 1-2% milk or skim milk, plain soy milk, plain rice milk.

Fruits, Berries & Melons

Apples, bananas, grapefruit, oranges, nectarines, blueberries, strawberries, mixed frozen berries, pears, melons. If it’s not named here, eat it! These fruits are very much filled with water which provides your body needed water.

Vegetables

Green onions, red peppers, sweet potatoes, potatoes, frozen vegetables, tomatoes, avocado, broccoli, spinach, carrots, bok choy, celery, romaine, mesculn mix, red leaf lettuce, zucchini, Brussels sprouts. This is by no means an exhaustive list.

Starches

Whole grain brown rice, whole grain breads (organic or German style), slow cook plain oatmeal, Red River Cereal. Refined grains like white rice, pasta and bread, undergo processing stripping them off these nutrients making wholegrain foods the better choice for a healthy heart. Consider portion sizes and get a good balance of the different food groups.

Nuts & Seeds

All-natural organic peanut butter, almond butter, nuts, seeds (pumpkin, sunflower, etc.) Eating five or more servings of nuts per week may lower heart attack risk (but as they are high in fat and calories they should be consumed in moderation. Seeds are a great source of energy and vitamin E. Sunflower seeds are rich in calcium, thiamin, vitamin B6 and folate, selenium and copper and are the best food source of vitamin E, supplying 76% of the daily requirements in a handful.

Oils

Extra virgin olive oil, sesame oil, safflower, canola, flax oil, mixed flax oil blend.Pesto, teriyaki sauce, soy sauce, honey, fresh ginger, hot sauce, mustard, onions, garlic, balsamic vinegar, pickles, yogurt, fresh herbs & spices, lemons, limes.

Get used to these kinds of foods, drinks and fruits in your daily life. Definitely you are going to get better, feel better and ofcourse your health will be best than ever.

Why Most People Switch to Android

Posted by Bloglovers on December 25, 2011

Now days Android is a very popular platform. In fact, over 700,000 new Android devices are activated daily! Many of these are from people who are switching to Android from Nokia, Blackberry, iOS, or webOS. If you’re one of them, then this “Quick Start Guide” is for you. It is designed to give you a quick overview of the Android platform, and then point you in the right direction for learning more!

Introduction to Android
Android is unique in that it can look surprisingly different depending on the brand of phone or tablet you have. This is because Google builds the basic operating system, and the various manufacturers are free to customize it as they see fit. They all run Android at their core, but HTC has Sense, Motorola has Blur (though they seem to be phasing that name out), and Samsung has Touchwiz, to name the main ones.

Despite various customizations, however, there are certain Android features that are consistent across brands. Nearly every Android phone has four main navigation buttons: Back, Menu, Home, and Search. Back brings you back one step in an app, or back a page in a browser. Menu brings up additional options for an app or your Android home screens. Home takes you to the main home screen and Search brings up the search bar, either within an app or globally.

Another basic Android feature is Widgets. Widgets are essentially “mini-apps” that provide at-a-glance details. Popular widgets include clocks, weather forecasts, speed dial contacts, calendars, and more. You can arrange widgets across multiple home screens on your Android device, designing a layout that fits your style.

Finally, every Android device has a notification bar at the top of the screen. Swipe down from the top and you’ll be presented with a list of all current notifications. A single tap will take you to an email, text message, calendar event, etc. This menu is accessible from any app and is the fastest way to see what you missed while you were away.

Some Must Have Applications for Android
In today’s digital world, most smart phones are only as good as the apps you put on them. On Android, Google has built in the Android Market to facilitate this. Where we used to suffer from scarcity, now we are burdened by the tyranny of choice. But if you just got a Android phone what are the first 10 apps you should download? This story is for you.
To get you started, however, we’ve included a list of our “must-have” apps below. Click the links to check them out in the Android Market.

Twidroyd
The Android Market has more Twitter apps than you could count, but Twidroyd appears as one of the best, especially since it is a free application. As with most Twitter clients, you can easily meet with @ reply to people and send direct messages. A complete set of options is available if you hold down a specific message. You can also easily send links from the stream to the browser of the phone and the software has no difficulty in managing more than one link at a time. If you are a fan of Twitter, you may become addicted to this application.

Angry Birds
Every mobile device, in my opinion, is naked without Angry Birds! It is the most well known mobile game in the world right now, and as frustrating as it can be at times, it is also awesome. When you want to pass some time doing something mindless, this is definitely the app for that moment. Angry Birds is FREE, so there is no excuse to not have it on your Android.

Evernote – Evernote is a universal note taking app. Keep notes from your Android, your computer, and even your browser all synced up. It’s fast, free, and easy to use.

Ringdroid
Android Users can set MP3 as ringtones rather easily, but what if you do not want the first 30 seconds of a song? This is where Ringdroid comes in – it lets you select an MP3 file from your phone or memory card and modify it so that your ring starts and ends exactly where you want. Speaking of MP3s, if you have all your music in iTunes and want to sync it with your Android phone.

Kik Messenger – One of the best ways to chat with friends, family, and peers without using text messages. Kik Messenger is similar to BlackBerry Messenger, and it’s available on Android, iOS, Windows Phone, and even BlackBerry. So skip the text message plan – use Kik!

We’ve only touched the beginning of what Android has to offer. There’s a wealth of information out there and much more to discover. The above information should be enough to get you up to speed on what Android is all about.
